Ensuring Research Integrity and Originality

The Journal of Plant Science and Phytopathology (JPSP) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity by ensuring that all submitted and published research is original and free from plagiarism. We adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for any form of plagiarism, fabrication, or unethical publishing practices.

Plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, improper citation, and unauthorized reproduction of content, undermines scientific credibility. JPSP strictly follows ethical guidelines to promote authentic research in the fields of plant science and phytopathology.

Plagiarism Detection and Screening

All manuscripts submitted to JPSP undergo rigorous plagiarism screening using advanced detection tools such as iThenticate and Turnitin. These tools compare the submitted content with published literature, scientific databases, and online sources to detect any similarities.

The journal takes the following measures:

  • Checking manuscripts against a database of published research.
  • Ensuring proper attribution and citation of previously published work.
  • Identifying duplicate submissions or redundant publications.
  • Detecting cases of self-plagiarism where an author republishes their own work without proper acknowledgment.

If a manuscript shows a similarity index above 15% (excluding references and common scientific phrases), authors may be asked to revise the content. In cases of severe plagiarism, the manuscript will be rejected.

Forms of Unacceptable Plagiarism

The following types of plagiarism are strictly prohibited:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying text or ideas from another source without citation.
  • Self-Plagiarism: Republishing one’s own previously published work without proper attribution.
  • Paraphrasing Plagiarism: Rewriting another author’s work without citing the original source.
  • Fabrication of Data: Manipulating or falsifying research findings, which is strictly unethical.

Authors must ensure that all references, concepts, and data used in their manuscripts are appropriately cited and acknowledged.

Consequences of Plagiarism

The journal enforces strict penalties for plagiarism, which include:

  • Manuscript Rejection: Any manuscript found to contain plagiarized content will be rejected immediately.
  • Author Blacklisting: Authors engaging in plagiarism may be prohibited from submitting to the journal in the future.
  • Retraction of Published Articles: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the article will be retracted.
  • Institutional Notification: In severe cases, the author's affiliated institution may be informed.

JPSP reserves the right to take necessary actions against authors found guilty of research misconduct.

Author Responsibilities

Authors must adhere to the highest ethical standards and:

  • Submit only original, unpublished work.
  • Provide proper citations and credit to all sources.
  • Check their work for plagiarism before submission.
  • Acknowledge all contributors and sources of data.

Authors are expected to follow the ethical guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and uphold the integrity of scientific publishing.
